New Multiple-Drug Regimen Effective Against Resistant TB
Researchers reported online May 4th in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Information that a regimen employing a fluoroquinolone, kanamycin and prothionamide as core agents is highly effective against multidrug resistant tuberculosis (TB).
Outcomes of Acute COPD Exacerbations May Be Better With Early Antibiotics
According to the results of a retrospective cohort study reported in the May 26 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association-Outcomes may be better when patients hospitalized for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) receive early antibiotics.

Beta-Blockers May Lower Risk for Exacerbations and Improve Survival in COPD
According to the results of an observational cohort study reported in the May 24 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine-Beta-blockers may lower the risk for exacerbations and improve survival duration in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), possibly as a result of dual cardiopulmonary protective properties.
